Come OUT and play!
What better way to end Pride 2012 than with a day of fun in the summer sun (knock on wood!) Sunday June 17, you can close off the ten days of Pride festivities with Team Edmonton, and I think you'll find there's a little something for everyone!
This is the fifth annual Come Out and Play Day, so head on down to the Kinsmen Sport Centre for events lkke running, cycling, tennis, volleyball and yoga. The day also includes the Gay Cup, a volleyball tournament with members of the Edmonton Police Services.
All the events and activities are free so this is a great way to meet the organizers and participants. Not a super jock? Don't worry! The skill level for participation is typically at the recreational level. Bring some bug spray, bring some sunscreen, and you're good to go. Just hope rain doesn't postpone this awesome event!
In the future, Team Edmonton might look at hosting a multisport tournament similar to the Western Cup, and while organizers think this would be a significant step forward for our community, we aren't quite there yet. Still, things have been kicked up a notch this year. Come Out and Play Day is now ending with a pool party at Queen Elizabeth Pool at 7:00. With DJs Murtor and D.A.D. on the decks, this will wrap up this year's Pride Festival with a bang!
So Stand Out, Come Out, and Play!
